Meeting the National Preparedness Goal for disasters is a daunting task. At the center of this challenge is National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance - specifically accounting for all resources at site, expanding the response to an escalating situation, integrating mutual aid resources, and implementing integrated multi-agency coordination. Salamander Technologies’ accountability products under the interTRAX™ model are the first set of tools today to meet the NIMS challenge. The solution automates tracking of all responders, volunteers, and victims, scales to any size incident, and provides both on-scene incident management and off-scene monitoring at an EOC or trauma center.

Personnel Accountability

 Salamander’s fireTRAX® solution is the standard and accepted program of the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.  Finally an emergency management solution that is designed to meet the wide range of emergency service organization requirements. Both manual and automated systems that are designed to effectively track personnel, property & victims in a single or multiple emergency services.

Manual Accountability
Collector rings and collection boards provide the incident commander a complete visual representation of all responding units and personnel. Traditional tags enhanced with photo-ID and high-capacity barcode provide both visual and electronic identification when fully implementing the fireTRAX® system. FireTRAX® supports NIMS and always provide an onsite manual back up system.

Easily Rolls up to Electronic Incident Command Standard SOP’s, tags, barcodes and personnel information makes the fireTRAX® system ideal for conversion from a manual system to an automated tracking system. Scanner-enabled, mobile units act as the bridge between manual and electronic accountability. Scan the responders ID tag to:

• Make assignments recording date/time Simple PAR reports provide number and status of all units and personnel. Search the database by selecting qualifications, certifications or site history of a selected responder.



Electronic Incident Command
If required, deploy a fireTRAX® Command laptop to monitor multiple mobile units as part of a wireless local area network. With the bar-coded tags people bring their data to your site. The electronic command board shows a tactical diagram of all assignment, companies and personnel.

Victim Accountability

Rapid and accurate tracking of victims of a mass casualty incident or disaster is essential. Incident and medical branch managers must uniquely identify each victim, assign a triage status and track victims through treatment and transport with all activities time & date stamped. This information must be available on-scene for incident management, off-scene for trauma center preparedness, and after-incident for full accountability and a chain-of-custody. medTRAX meets this challenge with a simple, automated system featuring bar-coded triage tags, handheld computers to capture data, a wireless LAN to consolidate victim data, and internet access to make incident data available to downstream facilities to prepare for incoming casualties. A “transport label” travels with the victim to provide survivable data and a chain-of-custody. Only medTRAX tracks both victims and responders at site. medTRAX meets the requirements of the Dept. of HLS 2005 Authorized Equipment List (AEL): Item 4.4 - Systems, Operations Area Personnel Tracking and Accountability.

A top priority is establishing site security and access control so you can screen, check-in and track all personnel. rapidTAG strips data from state driver's licenses to quickly tag all responders with incident-specific badges - complete with site permissions, expiration date, and a fireTRAX® compatible barcode for electronic accountability.

rapidTAG quickly captures authentic ID data on volunteers and site visitors. It will display and grand site 'permissions' in regards to locations, functions and badge expirations.

Need to quickly issue badges? Just push a button and the rapidTAG software prints a field badge complete with the ID information and permissions captured above, as well as a fireTRAX compatible barcode to automate accountability throughout the incident.

rapidTAG meets the requirements of the Dept. of HLS 2005 Authorized Equipment List (AEL): Item 4.11 - Application Program, Credentialing, Software application and associated hardware for creating site/event credential badges.
